I have a beautiful wedding day to share from Chepstow in Wales. As soon as this landed in my inbox I squealed with delight because I am about to move to Chepstow with my fiancé and so somehow I immediately felt a connection with it!
Add in to the mix a stunning dress, a smart kilt and some serious flower pretty and you have yourself a brilliant day captured by Graham Young Photography.
I’ll hand you over to the Bride Carrie for a lovely account of her day:
Scott and I were on holiday in Salou, Spain. It was early evening and we went for a stroll along the beach at sunset, we stopped to have a meal at a little candlelit restaurant we found on our way. After dinner we were given our dessert menus. I went to “powder my nose”, upon my return I lifted my menu and there was a box with an engagement ring in it. Scott didn’t need to ask I knew what it was for and of course said yes…We forgot about desserts and ordered champagne to celebrate!
Scott being Scottish and myself being English we couldn’t really shy away from a Scottish-English themed wedding. My bouquet was made up of white English roses and purple Scottish thistles, the purple lending itself to the rest of the colour scheme. We decided on Scottish tablet for the favours in the shape of little hearts with thistles and roses entwined on the box, we had a piper and a ceilidh band for entertainment. The location of the wedding was Wales …neutral ground and also where my parents now live.
It’s so hard to pin point what made the day special to us, having our family surrounding us and making it a day to remember is probably number one. Other speical memories that stand out now are… the bag piper piping us in to the wedding breakfast, the hilarious dancing to the ceidilh band and the disco at the end of the day, the setting, the speeches and who could forget the weather? The sun was blazing and we were so lucky, although Scott not so much in his very thick and heavy kilt!
Every moment was special in it’s own way but it was lovely to go for a walk after the wedding breakfast with Graham taking our photos (in an unobtrusive way). It was our first moment alone as a married couple, where we were able to reflect on aspects of the day together and just take a moment to relax. It was once again, sunset and we still had so more fun moments in the evening ahead of us…
I cannot remember the name of the dressmaker although I do remember it was called Summer which must have been a lucky charm as it certainly felt like summer on the day! Shoes were by Next which doesn’t sound very special but I would recommend to any bride as not only were they gorgeous, they were comfy and not extortionate leaving us with more money to spend on the things that you do see!
We had a fantastic day, a day to remember and Graham did an amazing job of recording all our memories in a unique and entirely natural way. We will cherish them forever! Thank you Graham for all your hard work on our special day!
