Simple Single Flower Bouquets

There is an increasing trend in using the same flower for your bouquet; it’s clean, fresh and modern.

I love the idea of giving each of your bridesmaids a different type of flower and mixing up colours and/or style to give everyone something unique for the day.

Lavender Loveliness

There is something about the colour, smell and look of lavender that I just love. I am slightly jealous of any bride who can stroll in a lavender filled field for some photographs.

My future dream house is an historic Châteaux surrounded by rolling fields of lavender which bask in the Provence sun….like I say, it’s a dream house!

Wild Flowers

If you are like me then you will love the look of wild flowers. Perfect for the country bumpkin/rustic look. I love the idea of adding berries into the arrangement as well…perfect for a quick snack before you make the walk down the aisle!

The great thing about using wild flowers is that they are a budget friendly option and need very little styling.

The Perfect Easter Weekend - Kari & Cullen

This is a truly beautiful wedding captured by Alex & Natalie Nelson Photography and  comes all the way from Madison, Wisconsin in the USA. It is a day bursting with personal touches and bright colours. I especially love Kari’s purple shoes. And the tulips for bridemaid’s bouquets. And the umbrella shot. And the tulips on the cake….the list goes on!

The winning shot has got to be the first kiss…of the flower girl and page boy!

Some words on the couple from the photgraphers, “Kari and Cullen and undergraduates at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Cullen is a U.S. Marine in the NROTC program and both of them are studying to be teachers. Cullen also works as a fitness coach and Kari is the Middleton High School Gymnastics Coach. When they’re not busy studying for exams or working, they can be found on the many different trails around Madison biking or running, attending Brewers and Badger games or cooking up a delicious and nutritious meal. They were married on Easter weekend and we were lucky to have simply beautiful weather with only a few drops of rain - just enough to wip out a few fun umbrella shots. They also did a First Look - which was beautiful overlooking Lake Monona, standing on the famous Frank Lloyd Wright building - The Monona Terrace.

For their first date…”We sat front row, right behind home plate, at the Brewer vs. Cardinal game opening weekend at Miller Park (no lie!). It was incredible! We got lost looking for a place to go to for supper before the game, and ended up at a typical small town supper club for Friday night fish fry, which was awesome!”

Our Wedding - August 2012

Flowers have been on the agenda this week. As my sisters have chosen their individual bridesmaids dress (see here if you haven’t already seen them) I wanted the flowers to be a neutral colour.

So, my white and cream flower inspiration is above. I still love the ‘countryside’ feel to flowers so everything I have chosen reflects an aspect of that.

It’s rather strange how suddenly involved you can become with these details. Before this week I could only identify 4 flowers, now I’m reeling them off…maybe, this is all part of growing up?!

Simple DIY

Who would have thought that baked bean tins could be used as vases?

I presume at this point that everyone’s family hoard tins of wall paint in the garage from countless decoration jobs around the house? If you’re normal and don’t then getting the ‘tester’ sizes are a great way of getting your colour(s) at a budget price.

Alternatively, wrap some lace around your tins for more of a shabby-chic/vintage feel.

Aisle Decor

Every single one of these images is heaven to my eyes.

Imagining floating down the aisle (or more accurately…gripping onto dad for dear life and concentrating on a rather primitive form of walking whilst stuck in a rather unattractive face somewhere between  concentration, happiness and crying down the aisle) of any of these aisles is enough to make me well up now.

It may have something to do with my current stress levels at trying to finish off our beautiful invitations with my not so beautiful handwriting…..29 written vs. 17 ruined. Or, it may just be that I am a closet flower aisle crier.

Whichever one it is, these are truly stunning photographs chosen to inspire.
